Rihanna's New Album, Rated R, Drops November 23

First single 'Russian Roulette,' written by Ne-Yo, premieres today.

On Tuesday (October 20), Rihanna not only got fans pumped when she premiered the first single, "Russian Roulette," from her hotly anticipated fourth studio album, but she also confirmed the long-standing rumors that she'd be releasing the LP on November 23 and announced that it would be called Rated R.

A press release from Def Jam stated that Rihanna worked with the likes of Tricky Stewart, Justin Timberlake, Chase & Status, and Stargate on the album. But she also hooked up with Ne-Yo and Chuck Harmony, who wrote and produced "Russian Roulette."

The video for the song, which Rihanna shot last weekend in New York City, was directed by Anthony Mandler. Previously, Mandler worked with Rihanna on the videos for "Unfaithful," "Shut Up and Drive," "We Ride," "Hate That I Love You," "Take a Bow," "Disturbia" and "Rehab." Def Jam said the clip will premiere in prime time on ABC, but did not specify on which day.

The album is Rihanna's first release since 2007's hit-spawning Good Girl Gone Bad, which was re-released this January. In a clip on her site, flashing images of Rihanna accompany her singing, "The wait is ova," over crunchy beats.

Def Jam also revealed the provocative artwork for "Russian Roulette," in which Rihanna, rocking a blond, slicked-back Mohawk, an eyepatch and a corset, is topless and wrapped in barbed wire. She is standing, mouth slightly open and holding onto a chain hanging from the ceiling.

"The best and safest way I can say this is that Rihanna has some stuff to say and she's going to say it," Ne-Yo told MTV News about his work with the pop star. "And she ain't going to make no apologies for it. ... I've heard a good majority of the album ... world, get ready. That's all I'm going to say: World, get ready."
