Weerd Science is the hip hop alter-ego of Coheed and Cambira drummer Joshua Eppard. Not simply a vanity project from the young rocker, his debut album Friends and Nervous Breakdowns was released in March 2005 and is the culmination of 10 years experience as a rapper and bedroom hip hop producer. Hailing from Kingston, New York Weerd Science adds a small-town perspective to the usual chorus of inner-city voices. Admittedly a geek used to being ridiculed and rejected, Josh's music is a sonic "Revenge of the Nerds" full of dark tongue-in-cheek comedy, introspection, social commentary and debauchery. "*uck You And Your Filthy A&R Dept." is diatribe against a shady record business while "Joshua They're Laughing At You" is an honest look at what it's like to be the butt of everyone's jokes. Combining humorously honest and self-effacing lyrics with decidedly hard hip hop beats Weerd Science's music is designed to move the listener emotionally and to move the crowd simultaneously. --David Blaise
