Empire Isis

Bursting onto the global music scene, the music of Miriam--a.k.a. Empire Isis--fuses hip-hop, dancehall, and Reggaeton with socially conscious lyrics. Inspired by the street sounds of North America, Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa, Empire Isis aims to break the mold of the female MC. Working with the legendary Jamaican musicians Dean Fraiser and Chinna Smith as well as Miami-based producers the I.C.O.N.Z., the hip-shaking songstress recorded her debut album Empress Gangsta in part at Bob Marley's legendary Tuff Gong Studio in Kingston, Jamaica. In addition to her performances at Harlem's Apollo Theatre and the Source Image Awards, Empire Isis has also played in over 20 different countries, including Brazil, Panama, Columbia, Venezuela and Canada. In 2005, she was nominated for "Most Promising Entertainer" at the International Reggae and World Music Awards.
